Encoding pipelines, DRM chains, packaging formats, and CDN origin design each have failure modes specific to streaming at scale. We design systems that account for them from the first architecture decision, not the first incident.
Media infrastructure has failure modes that general cloud knowledge doesn't cover. An encoding error can produce valid-looking output that only manifests as a black frame or audio drift at the player. A CDN edge node that isn't caching properly can create misses that compound at the segment level and trigger ABR degradation in ways that take time to surface in metrics. We design pipelines that treat encoding, packaging, and delivery as one integrated system, not three layers handed off between teams.

How we approach infrastructure design
One system, ingest to delivery
We design ingest, encoding, packaging, and delivery as an integrated system. The failure modes at each layer interact, and an architecture review of only the encoding layer misses what happens when the packager receives malformed output under load.
Built for years of evolution
Codec standards, CDN contracts, and device capabilities all change over time. We make architecture decisions that preserve optionality and extensability: components that can be enhanced or replaced without rebuilding the system, abstraction layers that isolate vendor-specific behavior.
Cost structure is an architecture concern
Transcoding costs, CDN egress, and storage tiers are determined at design time, not discovered on the first invoice. Codec selection, resolution ladder design, and compute decisions compound at scale, so we treat cost as a first-class constraint from the start.
